The last few weeks have been what I can only describe as crazy busy! With the launch of our new Primal Cure TV channel (Sky 670) and the Primal Cure website, it's been hectic to say the least.
Because of this, I've not been able to get my usual Primal Sleep or Primal Sunshine and have been completely wiped of my somewhat normal relaxed state - to which it's had a pretty stressful effect on my body. I've not been able to make it to the gym and my diet hasn't really been as good as it should have been and I've put on a few more pounds than I would have liked.
So, I've decided to do a little experiment starting from Monday. In a bid to shift that extra bit of weight, I'll be going completely carb free for seven days. I'll be eating absolutely no solid food at all, and instead will only be drinking liquids so I can still get my daily intake of healthy fats, fibre and protein. I'll also still be taking my daily supplements so that my body doesn't lose out on those vital nutrients I would otherwise get from my food consumption.
Here's how I'll be doing it and what I'll be consuming each day:
- Vitamin and Mineral Supplements (Nutrition)
- Organic Whey (Protein)
- Psyllium Husk* (Fibre)
- Coconut Oil (Fat)
- Black Coffee
- Green Tea
- Water (and plenty of it!)
(*If you've not heard of psyllium husk, it's a great form of fibre and is derived from a shrub-like herb found in India called Plantago Ovata. Each plant produces thousands of seeds, from which psyllium husk is extracted.)
For those of you who are wondering if I've completely lost the plot and if this is really dangerous. No it isn't and no I haven't! There are so many health benefits associated with fasting anyway (my Primal Cure book talks about this in more detail) and this is just another form of doing that. And yet, I'm still giving my body everything it needs to be able to function normally and not cause any distress to my organs - it's just through liquid form and vitamins and minerals.
So is it dangerous? Not at all. In fact it's far from being dangerous or bad for me in any way, shape or form. However, if you are thinking of doing this too, I'd suggest getting advice from your GP before undertaking the carb free liquid only week - especially if you've only recently started out on your Primal journey as this is something that your body may not be ready for just yet until you're properly adapted to the lifestyle.
If anybody is interested in seeing how I get on, then I'll be doing regular updates and progress videos each day starting from Monday so you can follow my journey on here, and Facebook, Instagram and Twitter too, and see how I'm getting on!
Wish me luck guys!
